AI SEO: How to Get Your Shopify Store Noticed by AI

Here at Insider Media Group our Shopify customers often ask how they can beat the competition by getting noticed when AI users are searching for similar products.

Getting found online has changed dramatically over the past 12 months or so; search now commonly includes appearing in answers from tools such as ChatGPT, Claude and Google’s AI search features. For Shopify store owners, this raises a practical question: how do you give your business a better chance of being mentioned?

Often called AI SEO, this still starts with usual familiar SEO foundations, including useful, original site content that engages customers, clear product information and a well-built Shopify website that search tools can access. Google confirms that using these established SEO practices remains relevant today when using its AI search features.

Answer the questions your customers want to ask

Sometimes we all think we know what potential customers' product questions might be, losing sight of what they actually want to know. To get a better idea look at your customer emails, enquiries and product questions. These are useful starting points for product and site content, in addition to your FAQ sections.

For example a Skincare Shopify store might explain which moisturiser suits sensitive skin. An eSIM travel store could answer how much mobile data someone needs for two weeks overseas.

To enhance the AI SEO, give a clear answer near the start of any descriptions, then add helpful detail. Use descriptive headings so site visitors can quickly find what they need.

Give your product pages more substance

“Great quality clothes at an affordable price” tells shoppers very little.

A detailed product page including descriptions will not only help your AI SEO, but will also assist in enhancing conversion rates. A product page should clearly define the rpduct and explain who the product suits, what it includes, how to use it and any important limitations. Include accurate prices, availability and delivery details if required.

Share something only your business can contribute

The personal, unique touch will go a long way in making your store stand out compared to the competition. Your Shopify site should include your own product photos, a detailed About Us page, and a Contact Us page, in addition to a properly structured FAQ section.

For example, you might explain why you selected your product range, detail the materials used, or describe a common mistake customers can avoid. Be specific and honest about the experience behind your advice.

Make sure your content can be found

Helpful content on your Shopify site needs to be accessible so that AI and search engines can properly read it. It is wise to keep most website information in page text, rather than text embedded in images. Ensure all product images have descriptive Alt text, and keep as much content available on the site open for all to read.

Keep your product information organised

Structured data helps Google and AI understand information on your pages. Have your Shopify theme’s product markup checked for accuracy, particularly prices and availability. Keep your content, especially FAQ sections logical, and allow them to flow naturally. Make content engaging, not only for AI and Google, but also importantly for your customers.
